Red carpet, photo sessions, creative workshops, discoveries of trades cinema and screening of short films: everything has been designed to give children a complete immersion in the world of the 7th art. An exceptional week led by the teaching team at Saint-Melaine school (Plumelin).

Red carpet photoshoot

The festivities began this Monday, May 18, 2026 with the official opening of the festival. The students paraded on the red carpet for a photo session worthy of the greatest ceremonies. Elegant dresses, costumes, rhinestones and sequins were out to transform the children into real stars for a day.

On Tuesday, May 19, it’s time for the magic of sound with a sound effects workshop led by Olivier Chat, professional sound artist. Students will be able to discover the secrets of sound effects used in cinema and participate in the sound effects of short films that they themselves made in class.

These films are the fruit of several weeks of work around writingdirecting and filming. “ We were lucky enough to be warmly welcomed by the local merchants and partners who agreed to receive the children for the filming, in particular the bakers of Plumelin, the hairdressing salon as well as the mayor of Plumelin Â,” thanks the director, Solène Lancien.

On Thursday, May 21, students in the classes of Nathalie Le Dandec, Solène Lancien and Marie Sevestre will have the chance to meet Jean-Pierre Audo for a talk dedicated to the cinema profession. A great opportunity to discover behind the scenes of this fascinating universe and perhaps inspire a few vocations.

Projections on the big screen

Finally, on Friday May 22 at 11 a.m., the Plumelin multipurpose room will host the official screening of the short films made by the students. The week will also be punctuated by numerous creative workshops around cinema: dubbing on rhythm tape, artistic activities and various animations will extend this week placed under the sign of creativity and artistic expression.

To allow families and loved ones to discover the children’s achievements in conditions worthy of a real cinema screening, a second screening will be organized on Thursday June 11 at 5:30 p.m. Cinema Le Club de Locminé.

“Through this ambitious and unifying project, we want to offer students rich, concrete and exciting cultural experiences,” add the teachers. A week that promises stars in your eyes… and perhaps some future Plumelinois Palmes d’Or…!
