The Iranian regime responded overnight to Washington’s strikes, after the destruction of an American helicopter on Tuesday in the Strait of Hormuz.

What you need to know

The ceasefire is increasingly fragile. Iran announced on Wednesday June 10 that it had targeted American bases in Bahrain and Jordan, in retaliation for Washington’s strikes against Iranian targets along the Strait of Hormuz. In Kuwait, the army said it faced “hostile aerial targets” without specifying their origin. Tehran’s reaction represents a new regional conflagration after the destruction of an American helicopter attributed to Iran. Follow our live stream.

  • “Proportionate” American strikes against Iran. L’armée américaine a frappé mardi “Iranian air defense installations, ground control posts and surveillance radar sites” near the strait, according to a press release from the Central Command for the Middle East (Centcom) of the American forces. The American Command presented these strikes as measures “en legitim defense” en réponse à la destruction d’un hélicoptère Apache de l’armée américaine.
  • Southern Lebanon shelled by Israel. Bombings, particularly on the city of Tyre, left at least 11 dead on Tuesday, according to the Lebanese authorities. For the first time since the start of clashes between Israel and Hezbollah, the Israeli army called on all residents to evacuate Tyre, including those from the Christian quarter.
  • New sanctions against colonization in the West Bank. Six countries, including France, have announced measures denouncing “the intensification of colonization and violence in the West Bank”explains the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, on X. For its part, France prohibits access to its territory Bezalel Smotrich, Israeli Minister of Finance, but also “four leaders of settler organizations and twenty-one violent settlers.”

  • #MIDDLE_EAST The Gulf countries have “legal and moral responsibility” to put an end to American attacks carried out against Iran from their territory, says Tehran. Iranian Foreign Ministry warns that Iran “would not hesitate to exercise its inherent right to self-defense” targeting in particular the bases and logistical installations used for operations against Iran.

  • In Jordan, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards said they had “targeted and destroyed four major targets, including groups of F35 fighters at an air base and the US military command center” of Azraq. In Bahrain, fighters from this ideological Iranian army announced that they had carried out “a drone attack against the Fifth Fleet” américaine.

The Guardians justified their operation by American attacks carried out during the night on Jask, Sirik and the island of Qeshm, on the southern coast of Iran in the still blocked Strait of Hormuz. These have “damaged a telecommunications tower in Sirik and destroyed two water tanks in the town”they specified.
