It is not just a debate on dignity and courage in politics that the deputy for Lot is organizing this Saturday, June 13. Aurélien Pradié looks further ahead with this gathering organized in Cahors around democratic renewal and the presence of personalities like Jean-Luc Moudenc, mayor of Toulouse, or Jean-Louis Borloo. One more step for the one who has regained his independence from the right-wing party and is now committed to his movement Les Bâtisseurs. Is the deputy for Lot laying the foundations of a presidential ambition? He does not exclude it and explains it.
What does this major political meeting that you are organizing in Cahors (Lot) consist of this Saturday, June 13?
This is an important event because it will be the first major gathering of our political movement The Builders that I supported a few months ago now, to chart another path. Because the political spectacle we are witnessing today cannot be satisfactory, and there is therefore another path to open by bringing together different personalities who believe in our country.
We invite all Lotois, from the first and second constituency, to join us, Saturday, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., under a large marquee with 400 seats, which will be installed on the allée Fénelon, in the middle of Cahors. It will not be a succession of speeches, but really exchanges, a very free discussion.

Who will be the guest personalities alongside you?
I have several of my colleagues or former colleagues who will be there, including the mayor of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, my colleague from Alsace with whom I sit among the Independents. We will also welcome the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, who will open to talk about what he has built in Toulouse, but also about republican values, and then about the link we can have with rural areas. As for Jean-Louis Borloo, speaking at the last round table, he is one of those personalities who are capable of thinking outside the box, free and independent personalities, and he will be our guest of honor. I have worked with him for a long time.
Why an event of this scale in Cahors, a socialist city?
This meeting is part of the process that I initiated several months ago; this is what produced in particular the book “Dignity” which I have just published. There, we will have a first gathering on the theme of dignity and courage in politics, and which will already be a first showcase of what we want to do, with personalities very different from each other and a new way of having a political approach.
This looks like a meeting one year before the presidential elections… What should we see there?
This gathering is not an end in itself, it is not a launch of a presidential candidacy, it is a beginning. And I wanted it to happen in the Lot, because that’s where it all started and that’s where things must continue. This territory built my character, my temperament, sometimes a little adventurous.
The book “Dignity” was a first step in what we have been building as a political project over the past year in Paris, with the organization of numerous conferences. The idea is to get away from the political communication to which we have been entitled for several months and which seems totally hopeless to me.
My desire is not to abandon the ambition that I gave myself when I regained my freedom, and which is not necessarily an easy freedom, because it is less simple than being part of a political party. And time proves me right. I think we need to bring together a team of women and men who love their country, who are outside of the arcane politicians who today we see do nothing, a kind of big salad about which we understand nothing.
And so I’m going to bring in several personalities who, in my opinion, put end to end, could resemble the French team that I was talking about just now. And, at the end of the year, all this should be able to create for me perhaps a team capable of proposing another offer, including in the presidential election. I am convinced that the Lot is the right place to experiment with things. And besides, if the people of Lot trusted me, it’s because they are capable of thinking a little differently.
