Secretary of War Accuses Sen. Mark Kelly of Mishandling Classified Information

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has accused Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) of speaking inaccurately about a classified Pentagon briefing during a national TV interview on Sunday. Hegseth stated that the Department of War’s legal counsel would be reviewing the situation.

In a social media post on Sunday night, Hegseth criticized Kelly, saying, “‘Captain’ Mark Kelly strikes again. Now he’s talking on TV (falsely & dumbly) about a *CLASSIFIED Pentagon briefing he received.”

Hegseth questioned whether Kelly had broken his oath once again, stating that the legal counsel at the Department of War would investigate.

Hegseth’s comments were in response to Face the Nation moderator Margaret Brennan who mentioned Kelly’s interview earlier that day. Brennan reported that Kelly had discussed the impact of the Iran war on U.S. weapons stockpiles during the Pentagon briefing.

Kelly criticized President Donald Trump for involving the country in the conflict without a strategic plan or timeline. He highlighted the depletion of munitions like Tomahawks, ATACMS, SM-3, THAAD rounds, and Patriot rounds, stating that it would take years to replenish the U.S. stockpile.

In the program, Kelly expressed concern about the safety of the American people due to the depleted stockpile of munitions, questioning the benefits of the Iran war for the public.

This latest conflict between Hegseth and Kelly is not the first, as they have clashed previously over different issues.
