Together for Julia: the fight of a family supported by the Manga Culture Weekend
Created in June 2025, the Ensemble pour Julia association was born from the story of Julia, the daughter of Fabien Bosc, now aged seventeen. At the age of 4 and a half, the little girl developed Doose syndrome, a rare form of particularly complex epilepsy.
Over the years, other disorders have been diagnosed: autism, frontal syndrome, dysexecutive disorders likely to contribute to seizures, as well as episodes of respiratory distress. “We have found no concrete answer, neither in France nor abroad“, confides his father.
Faced with this situation, the association has set several objectives. The first aims to raise funds to finance equipment leading to maximum autonomy.
A second phase provides for the creation of a knowledge base to help families facing similar pathologies find information and feedback more easily. In the longer term, the most ambitious project remains the creation of a suitable living space allowing people with disabilities to flourish in a secure environment.
“Because parents are not eternal“. The association also carries out important awareness-raising work around invisible disabilities.
“Julia does not suffer from closed autism. When you meet her, sometimes everything seems fine. However, behind it, there is permanent fatigue, significant constraints and real risks. We need to explain what invisible disability entails, because some people can have extremely violent reactions to what they don’t understand“. A reality that particularly affects the family since Julia’s older brother is also faced with the disease, having type 1 diabetes.
