On June 25, 1931, Émile Le Scanv was born in Maël-Carhaix in the village of Ar Vouillen. He was going to become “Glenmor »the awakener of conscience.
Glenmor was a committed singer, slayer of Jacobin centralism, tireless activist for the Breton cause, but he was above all a bard – the only title he claimed – author and interpreter of sensitive and poetic texts. A generous, sincere and faithful portrait, without concession, in the image of the man.
He died on June 18, 1996. It was to his grave that the members of the Glenmor an distro association went on Saturday, June 1, in the morning, while it was holding its general meeting in the Arc-en-ciel room.
Ten years ago, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the bard’s death, Glenmor an distro placed a commemorative plaque on the stele created by local sculptor Fanch Venner, erected in 2011 in his memory, rue du 19 mars 1962.
In August 2021, the plaque disappeared… It had not been replaced. Saturday morning, the association, chaired by Servane Huonic, was delighted to bring together such a wonderful audience around the grave, covered for the occasion with Gwen Ha du flags. The assembly gathered to the sound of songs and poems, in homage to the bard, accompanied by the bagpipes of Patrick Molard.
Furthermore, on the occasion of these anniversaries, let us highlight the reissue, by Éditions des Montagnes Noires, of the work We remember Glenmor, by Louis Bertholom and Bruno Geneste (176 pages, 17 €).
