Iranian diplomacy affirms that “no final agreement” has yet been concluded with the United States
Iranian diplomacy affirmed Friday evening that it had not yet reached an agreement with the United States to end the war, after declarations by Donald Trump announcing an imminent decision.
“Exchanges are continuing but no final agreement has yet been concluded,” commented the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaïl Baghaï, according to comments relayed by state media.
“A mixture of truth and lies”: Tehran responds to Trump’s latest statements
Iranian sources, cited by the Fars news agency, said Friday that Donald Trump’s latest statements on a possible agreement with Iran to end the war were a “mixture of truth and lies.”
“Trump claimed that Iran was required to open the Strait of Hormuz without tolls, while no such clause appears in the text of the agreement,” these sources assured. The destruction of Iran’s nuclear materials is also not included, they added.
Donald Trump had previously affirmed on his Truth social network that he was preparing to make a “final decision” on a possible agreement, believing that the Strait of Hormuz should reopen “immediately” and that the enriched uranimum should be “DESTROYED” in capital letters.

Archaeological sites in “serious danger” due to Israeli strikes, warns Lebanon
Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon are putting important archaeological sites in “serious danger”, including the ancient ruins of Tire and the medieval fortress of Beaufort, warned Lebanese Culture Minister Ghassan Salamé.
“Bombings fell very close to the ruins of Tyre, a site which is part of the heritage of humanity,” the minister told AFP. At the same time, “Beaufort Castle was hit directly (…) we know that several bombs fell on this fortress” dating from the Crusades, he said. “The intensification of these fighting means that these sites are in serious danger,” added Ghassan Salamé.
Israel added to UN blacklist over sexual violence in conflicts
Israeli security forces have been added to the UN blacklist on sexual violence during conflicts, in particular in connection with accusations made by prisoners, according to an annual report consulted yesterday by AFP.
Last August, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres warned Israel against possible inclusion on this list, but “incidents and patterns of sexual violence continued to be recorded by the United Nations” in the occupied Palestinian territories, indicates his new report which must be sent shortly to members of the Security Council. The document also deplores that despite this warning, the UN inspectors were met with “a persistent refusal of access” by the country’s authorities.
The UN thus confirmed in 2025 several cases of sexual violence dating back to 2023, “including in the form of torture”, against 14 men, 7 women, 9 boys and a girl in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. These violations include object rape, gang rape, physical violence against the genitals, forced nudity and strip searches “for no apparent security reason”. Their perpetrators are designated by the UN as members of the Israeli army, security forces and prison services.
17 dead in Israeli strikes in Lebanon
In Lebanon, at least 17 people died in Israeli strikes in the south of the country, where Israel extended its “combat zone”, as well as near Beirut. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has deplored an “escalation” in recent days, despite a ceasefire that came into force on April 17. The Pentagon was to welcome Lebanese and Israeli military representatives today before a new session of talks on June 2 and 3 in Washington.
The United States and Iran have made “a lot of progress” says JD Vance
The United States and Iran have made “a lot of progress” toward an agreement but Donald Trump is not yet ready to approve it, said US Vice President JD Vance. “We are negotiating some wording. We have made a lot of progress,” he told reporters. “We hope that we continue to make progress and that the president will be able to approve the agreement, but of course, that is still to be determined.”
A framework of agreement in sight but which remains to be finalized according to Washington, Tehran denies
While negotiations were believed to be in danger, sources in Washington reported a framework agreement with Iran which provides for a 60-day extension of the ceasefire in progress since April 8, and still requires the approval of the American president. This information, however, is denied by Tehran. “This is false and the text is not yet finalized,” wrote the Iranian Tasnim agency, citing a source close to the negotiations.
This announcement came after Iran and the United States exchanged strikes on Wednesday night, the most serious clashes since the truce came into force. The information was first revealed by the American site Axios, according to which this preliminary agreement does not resolve the question of the Iranian nuclear program – which will be addressed later – but includes a commitment from Iran not to seek to acquire the atomic bomb.
On the question of Hormuz, the protocol provides for “unlimited” access to the Strait, according to Axios, which cites two American officials. In return, the American blockade of Iranian ports would be lifted and Tehran authorized to sell oil thanks to a suspension of American sanctions.
