Shahbaz Sharif: The Sino-Pakistani partnership, cornerstone of foreign policy
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Monday that his country’s comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China is a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy, stressing the importance of strengthening it in various areas.
Mr. Sharif, currently visiting China, said in a message published on the X platform, relayed by the Yemeni news agency Saba, that Beijing and Islamabad celebrated 75 years of fruitful diplomatic relations during his meeting with President Xi Jinping in Beijing.
He expressed gratitude for China’s continued support for Pakistan’s peace efforts, welcoming the four-point proposal put forward by President Xi Jinping to strengthen regional security and stability.
He said the two sides discussed ways to strengthen strategic coordination and promote high-quality development projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as well as expand cooperation in the sectors of industry, agriculture, science and technology, clean energy, digital and space transformation.
The Pakistani Prime Minister welcomed the global initiatives launched by the Chinese President, which help promote peace, development and shared prosperity around the world, and affirmed that the friendship between Pakistan and China would remain an engine of stability and development in a changing world.
