Cambodian media underlines the consistency of Vietnam’s foreign policy
On the eve of the state visit of the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), Tô Lâm, to Cambodia, on February 6, the Cambodian press highlighted the coherence and continuity of foreign policy of Vietnam towards its neighbor.

In an article published Wednesday February 4, the English-speaking daily Khmer Times underlines that Hanoi attaches constant importance to strengthening and deepening its relations with Cambodia, considered as a long-term strategic priority.
Entitled “The consistency of Vietnam’s policy towards Cambodia”, the article is signed by Uch Leang, researcher and acting director of the Department of Asian, African and Middle Eastern Studies of the Institute of International Relations under the Royal Academy of Cambodia, also president of the Alumni Association Cambodian students who studied in Vietnam.
The author believes that the choice of Cambodia as the destination for one of the first state visits of Secretary General Tô Lâm after the XIV National Congress of the PCV has a strong political significance, clearly illustrating the priority granted by Vietnam to its relations with neighboring countries, in particular Cambodia and Laos.
According to Khmer TimesVietnam’s foreign policy is based on constant principles: independence, autonomy, peace, cooperation and development, as well as diversification and multilateralization of international relations. The newspaper emphasizes that Vietnam–Cambodia relations are firmly institutionalized in the strategic orientations of the Vietnamese Party and State.
The Cambodian newspaper believes that Vietnam’s approach, based on practical cooperation and oriented towards the concrete interests of the people of the two countries, gives Vietnam–Cambodia friendship both historical and prospective value. This cooperation covers many areas, ranging from economy, trade and investment in defense, security, education, culture and exchanges between peoples.
In a regional and international context marked by complex developments, Khmer Times underlines that Vietnam continues to pay particular attention to strengthening bilateral relations, while promoting Vietnam – Cambodia – Laos solidarity as an essential strategic factor for stability and sustainable development in Southeast Asia.
The daily concludes that the consistency of Vietnamese policy towards Cambodia reflects the image of a peace-loving country, attached to stability and common development, and resolved to build a lasting and mutually beneficial partnership, in the service of peace and regional and global prosperity.
