Storms will mainly favor areas near and east of I-75 heading into the evening.

Higher storm coverage Wednesday with muggy conditions

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

As more moisture returns to the Gulf Coast Wednesday, expect higher storm coverage for the late afternoon. Initially, an east wind will drive storms toward the coast with the peak heating of the day. However, as a south wind kicks in for the evening, more storms will work east of I-75. While not everyone will see the rain, keep the umbrella handy.

A few storms could be on the stronger side bringing gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lighting. Highs will stay seasonal in the low 90s with overnight lows in the 70s.

Your Gulf Coast Weather Most Accurate Forecast says that rain chances will remain high through the rest of the work week. For the weekend, expect scattered afternoon storms. Saturday will be the better beach day as an onshore wind will drive most of the storms inland.
