According to the Vietnamese Foreign Minister, this visit was of particular importance. It marks Tran Le Thanh’s first foreign mission after assuming the high state functions following the XVI National Assembly and the success of the XIV National Party Congress.

In the context of both countries entering a new phase of development – Vietnam implementing its strategic directions by 2030 and 2045, and China preparing for its 15th Five-Year Plan – this visit was identified as the most significant diplomatic activity in bilateral relations in 2026. It also reflects Vietnam’s commitment to realizing its foreign policy of independence, autonomy, diversification, and multilateralization.

During the stay, the Vietnamese leader and the delegation engaged in numerous high-level activities, showcasing the strong political trust and extensive overall cooperation between the two countries. Discussions between the top Party and state leaders led to deep strategic exchanges, accompanied by the signing of multiple agreements covering various areas.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung emphasized that the visit yielded “particularly important, rich, and strategically significant results.”

Firstly, both parties reaffirmed the priority importance of bilateral relations in their respective foreign policies, with a common desire to elevate them to a higher level in the new context.

Secondly, the leaders engaged in frank and in-depth exchanges on the situation in each country, regional and international developments, and bilateral relations, resulting in important consensuses and defining major directions for more substantial and effective cooperation. Concrete proposals were made to strengthen connections in areas such as the economy, investment, infrastructure, science and technology, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

Thirdly, the parties agreed on major orientations to elevate Vietnam-China relations to a new level. They also underscored the need to accelerate connectivity between the two economies, promote trade and investment, and cooperate closely on major projects, including railways.

Fourthly, the leaders emphasized the importance of coordination and mutual support in international forums to help consolidate a peaceful and stable environment conducive to the development of each country.

Looking ahead, Minister Le Hoai Trung indicated that the leaders of both countries will pay particular attention to effectively implementing the agreements reached. Ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses will be called upon to develop concrete action plans to fully exploit the cooperation potential in each area.

Finally, he highlighted the willingness of the Chinese side to develop mechanisms and specific measures to support the implementation of agreements, opening up new prospects for substantial and sustainable development of Vietnam-China relations.
