Mahaut Drama returns to the forefront. Drama Queenhis last show captured at the Théâtre des Folies Bergère last December, will be broadcast on the TMC channel this Thursday, June 11. The 31-year-old comedian, noted for his spicy columns on the show Daily or on Radio Novaaddresses sensitive subjects such as mental health, fatphobia or even depression. Personal themes, as she reveals during an interview given to our colleagues at Gala.
“We are all products of our times: I was a teenager in the 2010s, where it was glamorized to be a rockstar, to do a lot of drugs. I followed this fashion phenomenon a little, and I always loved transgressing, at night, in excess… This is how it translated to me” she explains sincerely.
Mahaut Drama révèle “had a little burnout last year”
Fortunately, Yann Barthès’ former colleague has turned the page on addictions. “But thank God that period is over. Things are much better.” And to encourage those who suffer from it to seek treatment without shame: “I wish everyone to take charge of themselves, to do meditation, to go to support groups, to not be ashamed. There are happy tomorrows without drugs.” she assures.
The successful stand-up artist, however, remains vigilant: “I had a little burnout last year, I have been followed by psychologists for a long time. My parents always had this healthy reflex: “Isn’t that okay? We’re going to the brain doctor.†I wish it was this natural for everyone. When you have a fracture, you put on a cast; when you have a brain injury, you take medication for a while, you speak to a specialist. It keeps you from dragging things that are too heavy, and it makes you better for those around you.”
Mahaut Drama wants to tell “injuries that may have been caused by drugs”
Already, in his novel Let youth passpublished in 2025, Mahaut Drama addressed violence, self-construction, fissures and rebirths. On the occasion of the publication of her autofiction, she confided in our colleagues at Vanity Fair last March: “If I describe the party with honesty, and I want to make this story a little alive, it has to be sincere. And it would be hypocritical to avoid the subject of drugs. But I also recount all the injuries that the drug may have caused so as not to apologize for it, because it remains an important subject of public health.”
And to add: “Expressing yourself is the opposite of depression. Speaking is putting evil at bay. I think it’s called sublimation, a psychologist told me. I use what is hard to make something beautiful.” A nice message of hope addressed to an entire generation.
