The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, met on Thursday with Senator David McCormick, chairman of the subcommittee on the Middle East, South Asia, and Central Asia as well as counterterrorism within the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, during his meetings with Congress leaders in Washington.

The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States and expanding cooperation in political and economic areas. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation between Egypt and the American Congress to support bilateral relations and the common interests of both countries.

Abdelatty also invited McCormick to visit Egypt in the near future, especially in light of the preparations for the second edition of the Egypt-U.S. Economic Forum later this year.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister reviewed Egypt’s dedicated efforts to support security and stability in the Middle East, highlighting that the Egypt-U.S. partnership was crucial in these efforts.

The meeting also addressed various regional issues, including military escalation in the region and Egyptian efforts to contain tensions, as well as developments related to the Palestinian cause, Lebanon, and Sudan.

On his part, McCormick expressed his desire to strengthen the Egypt-U.S. strategic partnership, praising Egypt’s active diplomatic role and efforts towards security and stability in the Middle East, particularly in de-escalation.

He appreciated Egypt’s foreign policy, which he sees as a model of wisdom and balance in dealing with regional and international issues, effectively contributing to peace and stability efforts in the region.
