The electric military motorcycle is becoming a strategic asset for the Ukrainian army. Light, silent and durable, the “Wolf Storm” now equips 1,500 units, tripling the motorized force on the front.
Ukraine unveils its new military motorcycle. The “Wolf Storm” model has been designed to be used in difficult conditions. It must offer “better balance and greater efficiency” on hills and uneven terrain, according to a press release from the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
An electric model
“Wolf Storm” weighs 105 kg, accelerates to 80 km/h and has a range of 100 kilometers. The motorcycle is equipped with an electric motor with a power of 8 kW. It can be fully charged in four hours and benefits from a quick battery change facility.
These “Wolf Storms” have several advantages over motorcycles with a gasoline engine. Quiet thanks to their electric motor, they also benefit from resistance to humidity and temperature changes. They also have better access to spare parts. Characteristics that can prove useful on the front.Â
“Wolf Storm” will be used for different missions including military intelligence, logistical and evacuation transport as well as troop transport. Each motorcycle has a load capacity of 200 kg and can transport two fully equipped soldiers.
1,500 motorcycles reinforce the Ukrainian armed forces
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry says motorcycles have become the most popular vehicle on the front along with pick-ups. Ukraine will therefore acquire 1,500 motorcycles for its armed forces in 2026. This is a record with a number “three times higher than last year”, according to the Ukrainian press release.
Une armée en expansionÂ
The Ukrainian army has grown considerably since the start of the war against Russia. “Today, they have capabilities that allow them to strike deep into Russia, without having to ask authorization from the allies,” confided the editor-in-chief of the National Defense Review, Jérôme Pellistrandi, in an interview with The Midi Daily.Â
“As a reminder, during the month of May 2026, the Ministry of Defense approved and put into service within the Defense Forces 175 new models of weapons and military equipment. Nearly 93% of these new products were designed and manufactured by Ukrainian gunsmiths,” said the press release from the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
