How to interpret the advances of the Israeli army beyond the “buffer zone” in South Lebanon

While direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel opened Thursday in Washington under the auspices of the Trump administration, a few days earlier, Israeli troops on the ground made unprecedented advances in South Lebanon where they imposed a “buffer zone” on nearly 6% of the Lebanese territory: they thus crossed the Litani River towards the north, and even crossed the “yellow line” which demarcates this area, reaching the outskirts of localities where Hezbollah is located, in the region of Nabatiyé.
