The US-Iran war’s actual cost has sparked controversy, with initial estimates of $25 billion strongly disputed. Reports suggest the figure does not include damages from early Iranian strikes on US bases in the Middle East.

The Pentagon’s temporary comptroller, Jules Hurst III, presented the estimate to lawmakers, detailing that a significant portion was spent on munitions, operations, maintenance, and equipment replacement.

However, other sources claim the actual cost, including reconstruction and equipment replacement, could range between $40 and $50 billion. Early Iranian strikes reportedly damaged at least nine US military sites in the Gulf, raising concerns.

No Definitive Evaluation

Reports indicate critical radar systems were destroyed, including a THAAD missile defense radar in Jordan and similar facilities in the UAE. The Pentagon lacks a final cost evaluation, leaving questions on the extent of repairs needed.

Lawmakers expressed skepticism over the $25 billion estimate, with some accusing the Pentagon of not disclosing the actual cost of the conflict adequately. As days pass, the debate over the war’s financial and legal implications intensifies.
