Germany approves 8 billion euros in arms sales last week

Amazing Germany… Last week, in two days (April 14 and 15), the Bundestag approved defense spending totaling over eight billion euros, half of which is destined for Ukraine, according to our information. Without going through the American FMS (Foreign Military Sales) procedure, Berlin directly signed a 3.2 billion euro contract with missile manufacturer Raytheon, a subsidiary of the RTX Corporation group, to provide Patriot GEM-T interceptors to Kiev.

In this context, the joint venture between Raytheon and MBDA Deutschland, called COMLOG, will invest in the construction of an air defense missile production plant for GEM-T missiles in Schrobenhausen, Germany, as announced in a statement by the American group. In addition to this contract, this Patriot plant is expected to also play a key role in other contracts to contribute to a constant supply of these surface-to-air missiles for Ukraine and other countries. “Raytheon is investing heavily to increase GEM-T production to support the growing global demand,” explained Raytheon president Phil Jasper.

In addition to this mega-contract, Berlin has also committed to providing Ukraine with IRIS-T launchers (Diehl BGT Defence) in a ground-to-air version, medium and long-range drones produced through co-production, as well as deep strike ammunition. This amounts to a bill of around four billion euros for Kiev. In total, since the start of the war in Ukraine, Berlin has supported Kiev with a military aid package of 55 billion euros, over 11 billion euros in 2026 alone.

Rearming the Bundeswehr

Alongside the military aid dedicated to Ukraine, the German parliament has also approved several orders for the Bundeswehr. Berlin signed a contract worth over three billion euros with the Danish defense company MyDefence, founded by former Danish military personnel, for the supply of anti-drone detectors, the Wingman 105. Designed for military, law enforcement, and security professionals, this portable system uses advanced RF sensors to detect and track unauthorized drones, providing early alerts.
