Cuba must prepare for a possible war with the United States. Faced with the recurring threat of an attack on the communist regime by President Donald Trump, President Miguel Diaz-Canel stated in an interview with the Brazilian information site “Opera Mundi” on Wednesday, April 22, that his country was ready for any eventuality.
Emphasizing that Havana “does not advocate for war, does not encourage it” but also does not fear it, Diaz-Canel stressed the need to be prepared to avoid surprises or defeats. Cuba’s defense strategy is based on the doctrine of the “whole people’s war,” mobilizing the entire population to resist invasion through armed struggle, guerrilla tactics, and civil resistance on all fronts.
Talks between Washington and Havana have taken place, with Cuba’s Foreign Ministry confirming discussions with American diplomats. Meanwhile, Barcelona, Mexico, Brazil, and Spain issued a joint declaration of solidarity with Cuba, promising substantial humanitarian aid and urging respect for its sovereignty.
The challenge of being the newspaper of peace is a daily commitment, rooted in the history of peace defense. Highlighting actions of pacifists for disarmament, ongoing anti-colonial struggles, and international solidarity, the message emphasizes that values have no borders and calls for support for the right to self-determination and the path of peace.
