Shooting at Louisiana shopping center leaves at least two gravely injured
At least two people were seriously injured on Thursday in a shooting near the Mall of Louisiana shopping center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, local authorities said. Police confirmed that the two victims are in serious condition, while a total of ten people have been taken to the hospital.
The shots rang out near the food court of the shopping center, involving two distinct groups, according to sources close to the investigation cited by local media. Authorities clarify that this is not currently an active shooter situation, but that the two suspects are on the run.
Emergency services were quickly deployed near a department store in the center. Residents were urged to “avoid the area” by local police in a Facebook post, as law enforcement continues their investigations. Governor Jeff Landry stated, “Sharon (his wife) and I are praying for those affected and commend the quick response of law enforcement,” in a press release.
