Netflix subscribers in France will be able to watch TF1 channels and TF1+ content on the American platform from Friday, the leaders of the two groups announced on Thursday.

Greg Peters, co-CEO of Netflix, stressed that their content is “complementary”, when the CEO of TF1 Rodolphe Belmer was pleased to bring his programs to “new audiences”, during a conference in Paris.

For the streaming giant, such a distribution agreement is a world first. The partnership, the duration and amount of which have not been revealed, was announced a year ago.

Concretely, Netflix subscribers will be able to watch directly from the TF1+ pay platform as well as the live channels of the TF1 group (TF1, audience leader in France, and LCI, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries films).

This will be possible on connected TVs as well as on mobile phones, except for live streaming on these, which will arrive later.

A wide audience

On Netflix, a selection of TF1+ programs, such as Koh-Lanta, Star Academy or sports matches, will be offered on a dedicated scrolling line (“rail”) and all of the content – 35,000 hours of programs – will be accessible in a specific location, from the platform’s home page.

After the announcement of TF1 in mid-2025, the public group France Télévisions concluded a similar partnership in July with Prime Video, Amazon’s video-on-demand service. It took effect immediately.

The M6 group did the same last January with Prime Video.

For chains, these partnerships make it possible to reach a wider and younger audience. For the streaming giants, it is a way to strengthen their local roots. (ag/ats)
