Mandy Moore (“This Is Us”) Opens Up About Her Failed IVF Journey Before Her Unexpected Pregnancy

After releasing several albums while still a teenager, Mandy Moore became known for her acting skills through the film Autumn Timereleased in 2002, but especially the series This Is Uswhich earned him a Golden Globe nomination in 2017.

Married to Taylor Goldsmith, Mandy Moore is also the mother of three children, born in 2021, 2022 and 2024. This last birth turned out to be a surprise for the actress, while she had experienced failure with an IVF course a few months previously.

Guests have micro du podcast Not Skinny But Not Fat In an episode posted online on June 2, 2026, Mandy Moore explained that she chose to perform IVF as a “precaution” so that she could preserve an embryo until she was ready to have a third child. An approach which, however, turned out to be a failure.

“So I did IVF, but it didn’t work : we obtained no viable egg, no embryo, she confided. And I said to myself: well, that’s it. “If it’s destiny, it will happen naturally,” as with his first two children, August “Gus” Harrison Goldsmith and Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett Goldsmith.

“And then, Lou couldn’t help but show up“, she added with a laugh about her third child, Louise “Lou” Goldsmith, born in May 2024. “She arrived in a completely unexpected way. We weren’t trying to have a child, but obviously we were open to the possibility given the IVF process.”

Three pregnancies from which Mandy Moore is slowly recovering

Mandy Moore’s last two children were born almost two years apart. “I had three children in three and a half years,” breathed the actress. When the podcast host asked if giving birth to her three children almost in quick succession had “tested” her, Mandy Moore replied that she was “still recovering emotionally“.

“I’m fortunate to have had a very easy pregnancy energetically,” she added. “I didn’t suffer from any postpartum symptoms, so I feel like I had a relatively easy experience, all things considered.”

Despite these close births, the actress spoke of her difficulties in conceiving in a publication posted in 2024 on the podcast’s Instagram account This Was Uswriting that during her first pregnancy, “the doctor told me there was little chance of getting pregnant… And then, to our great surprise, I got pregnant with Gus.”
