Originally from Bordeaux, Xavier Domergue began to cut his teeth in the Paris region in 2006, for an internship at Eurosport. Guided by a burning passion for football, the journalist evolves at Ma Chain SportThen Orange Sport before replacing Denis Balbir in 2021 to cover major football events on M6. On this subject, he feels a lot of gratitude: “If someone had told me that a few years ago, I would never have believed it! It’s exceptional. I’m very privileged even if I don’t really realize yet“he confided in the columns of TV Magazine in November 2020.
In the front row of football matches as well as at home, the journalist seems to be having happy days. Far from the spotlight, the one who will be an essential voice as a commentator for the 2026 World Cup is a man fulfilled with his wife and children.
Xavier Domergue, a loving husband and a happy dad
Both professionally and personally, life smiles on Xavier Domergue. When he’s not on the group’s channels M6the sports journalist likes to spend time with those around him: his wife Alexandra and their 3 children. In a relationship for a little over 20 years and married since July 24, 2013, the former candidate of Pékin Express has a perfect love affair with a woman, little known to the general public if at all. In a desire to preserve their privacy, the couple rarely exposes themselves together, particularly on social networks. But, the fruit of their love gave birth to 2 little girls and 1 boy. After experiencing the joys of fatherhood with the birth of his eldest daughter Lou, Xavier Domergue saw his tribe grow with the arrival of Gaby and then that of Romane. Once again, although he sometimes reveals photos of his offspring on his Instagram account, he remains very discreet regarding his private life.
However, during an interview in 2022 with our colleagues from Galahe lifted the veil on what he loved to do after a busy season: “Being with my wife, my children, my friends and spending a day on a boat on the Arcachon basin. Then, come home in the evening and have an aperitif with a plancha and a barbecue. It’s truly my greatest pleasure.”he shared. Between playing pétanque, tanning and swimming live from the south of France, he pushes the concept of the sweet life at its climax: “It’s just happiness!”he concluded.
Xavier Domergue: who is the famous father of the sports commentator?
Football is a family affair. Having fallen into the sport of football since his birth, Xavier Domergue is none other than the son of Jean-François Domergue. His father was a professional player in Bordeaux and at Olympique de Marseille. The latter even had the honor of wearing the French team jersey on several occasions between 1984 and 1989. Always during an interview given to TV MagazineXavier Domergue indulged in some confidences about his dad: “My parents separated quite early, I didn’t grow up with both on a daily basis, but I developed a natural passion for football through my dad’s journey“he declared. Even though football seems to flow in his veins, Xavier Domergue did not want to follow in his father’s footsteps: “I played at an interesting level myself. At the same time, I wanted to follow a consistent academic path.” The one who perceived football more as a leisure activity than a career to follow, still made his passion a profession.
