For more than twenty years, Pékin Express has evolved, but this season marks a return to basics: GPS prohibited, absence of translation tools, new game mechanics and new itinerary. More than ever, candidates must rely on their instincts and their ability to adapt.
Ayutthaya, a historic setting for a turning point in the competition
It is in Ayutthaya that this decisive stage begins. Former capital of the Kingdom of Siam for nearly four centuries, the city was once one of the most prosperous in the world, attracting merchants from Europe, Japan and China.
Today, its impressive ruins, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, provide a spectacular setting steeped in history for the launch of this decisive race.
A new rule: run in grouped teams
Big news of this stage: the candidates will no longer run only in pairs, but in grouped teams. Two groups, each made up of two pairs, must advance together throughout the race.
A mechanism that disrupts the usual benchmarks. From now on, candidates will have to deal with the strengths, but also the weaknesses of their partners. Coordination, communication and collective strategy will be essential to progress effectively.
The issue is clear: their destiny is linked. Either the teams qualify together for the semi-finals, or they face each other in the final duel.

Cohabitation under tension… and moments of complicity
This collective dynamic does not only concern the race, but also the evenings!
Finding accommodation for four people promises to be more complex than ever, in a country where the welcome is known to be warm. Between organization, fatigue and competitive pressure, tensions could quickly emerge.
But these shared moments could also strengthen the bonds between the candidates, giving rise to unexpected moments of complicity.
A pivotal stage on the verge of the semi-finals
At this stage of the competition, every detail counts. This stage of the quarter-finals could well completely redistribute the cards and decide the fate of the teams still in the running.
Between collective strategy, management of tensions and race against time, the candidates will have to surpass themselves to hope to secure their place in the semi-final.
In Pékin Expressthe adventure is now played out by four people… and more than ever, nothing is taken for granted.
Catch the show from 9:10 p.m. this Friday May 8, 2026 on M6. The replay will be available for free on the M6+ platform just after the broadcast.
