Nathalie Baye, elegant and discreet, will be remembered by those who loved her. These last years were not easy for the actress, who was diagnosed with Lewy body disease, a neurodegenerative condition that also affected actor Robin Williams and TF1 presenter Catherine Laborde. Before facing this disease that ultimately took her life, the actress had to confront certain challenges, which began in childhood.

Nathalie Baye never completed her formal education. Leaving school at the age of 14 due to undiagnosed dyscalculia and dyslexia, she publicly shared her struggles during the National Dyslexia Day event in 2023. Despite these difficulties, her love for reading and literature was a source of solace.

The dyscalculia she faced made numeric activities challenging, affecting her ability to understand and use numbers according to the French Federation of Dyslexia. Nathalie Baye struggled to remember important dates, only recalling her daughter’s birthday. She even admitted to mixing up her bank card pin with her building code.

In addition to dyslexia and dyscalculia, Nathalie Baye also battled claustrophobia. She described an irrational fear of enclosed spaces, such as small elevators or windowless rooms. This phobia at times impacted her daily life, leading her to favor stairs over elevators.

Despite her fears, Nathalie Baye sought help through hypnosis to overcome her claustrophobia, especially before challenging filming experiences. One notable role required her to navigate Parisian sewers, a daunting task given her condition. Through hypnotherapy, Baye was able to confront her fear and continue her work in the industry.
