A star-studded event. On April 14, 2026, at the David Koch Theatre in the Lincoln Center in New York, many celebrities walked the red carpet for the premiere of the documentary Brunello, il visionario garbato. Among them were Oscar Isaac, Shonda Rhimes, and Naomi Watts.
Two of the attendees that garnered attention were Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson, who co-starred together in the series Dawson from 1998 to 2003.
Great chemistry on the red carpet
Both 47 years old, Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson posed on the red carpet of the premiere, visibly delighted to be in each other’s company, laughing and exchanging knowing smiles. Joshua Jackson wore an elegant burgundy blazer, gray pants, and a black bow tie, while Katie Holmes sported a white shirt and a long gray skirt with sequins.
The two actors, who were a couple for a few months in 1998, have appeared very close on several occasions, whether during the filming of the movie Happy Hours directed by Katie Holmes herself and set for release next year, or during the Dawson cast reunion that took place in September 2025 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York.
James Van Der Beek’s death still on their minds
This friendly appearance of the actor duo unfortunately brings to mind the death of their Dawson co-star, James Van Der Beek, who passed away on February 11, 2026, at the age of 48 from colorectal cancer. Katie Holmes paid tribute to the actor in a handwritten letter posted on her Instagram account the day after his death was announced. “I am so grateful to have shared a moment of James’s journey. He was beloved,” she wrote.
Joshua Jackson also addressed James Van Der Beek’s death during an appearance on the show Today on March 10, 2026. “Now that I am a father myself, the magnitude of this tragedy for his family affects me in a very different way than if I were just a colleague,” he explained, referring to the actor’s six children. He went on to describe his friend’s passing as a “huge loss.”
