President Donald Trump suggested that the end of the Iran war may be near during an interview with FOX Business’ Maria Bartiromo. Trump stated, “I think it’s close to over, yeah. I view it as very close to being over.” The comments were made in a taped interview set to air on FOX Business Network’s Mornings with Maria.

Speculation about a possible new round of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran has been increasing, with Trump indicating that another sit-down could be imminent. Trump mentioned the possibility of a second round of talks happening in the next two days, and two U.S. officials also suggested that discussions for another meeting were ongoing and could take place as soon as Thursday.

Vice President JD Vance stated that Trump is aiming for a “grand bargain” with Iran rather than a smaller deal. Vance mentioned that Trump’s message to Iran is, “If you guys commit to not having a nuclear weapon, we are going to make Iran thrive.”

In other news, the U.S. Central Command is continuing to enforce a blockade, with no vessels managing to pass U.S. forces. Additionally, Israel has been carrying out airstrikes in Lebanon despite recent talks in Washington.

Furthermore, Trump mentioned in a post on Truth Social that he is “permanently opening the Strait of Hormuz” and referenced China’s approval of this decision. Efforts to extend a two-week ceasefire have also been progressing, with hopes of reaching a peace deal through in-person negotiations.
