The only candidate in the running, Bastien Ho was elected president of the structure, succeeding Gérard Roujas, founder of PETR and historic figure in local political life.

The transition is now complete within the PETR du Sud Toulousain. Opposition municipal councilor in Carbonne and vice-president of the Volvestre community of communes, Bastien Ho, 45, decided to present his candidacy after a short period of reflection. Web developer and business manager, this father of two children who has lived in Carbonne for around twenty years has a profile that is both pragmatic and focused on innovation.

“I have been developing websites for 25 years, first as a freelancer then within a web agency. The teleworking of our company allows me to remain available locally,” he explains. Sensitive to environmental issues, he says he wants to place “efficiency” at the heart of his public action.

With twelve years of experience as a municipal councilor and community vice-president, the new president believes he has acquired a good knowledge of the issues of the territory and the expectations of local communities.

During his first speech, Bastien Ho made a point of saluting the work of Gérard Roujas, who puts an end to 61 years of public commitment. He also insisted on his desire to preserve the balance between the different communities of communes that are members of the PETR and to work “in the collective interest of the territory”.

A new breath

This election marks the arrival of a new generation at the head of the PETR du Sud Toulousain. Bastien Ho will be surrounded by nine vice-presidents as well as the three presidents of communities of municipalities sitting in the office.

In a context where the future of the territorial organization could evolve after the presidential election of 2027 and a possible revision of the NOTRE law, this new governance intends to combine continuity and renewal.

An unexpected candidacy for some local elected officials, but which already raises hopes for a more modern operation and new working methods, while being part of the legacy left by previous teams.
