The party denounces the declarations of Aurélien Pradié.Â
Thursday June 4, during the plenary assembly of the regional council, a tense exchange took place between Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie Region, and Aurélien Pradié, president of the L’Occitanie courageous group. The Lot Socialist Party castigated “this unbearable political recovery”: “At the opening of the plenary assembly of the Occitanie Region, Thursday, President Carole Delga spoke with seriousness of the terrible affair which is upsetting today the Gers and well beyond. She provided her support to the family of little Lyhanna, recalled the known elements concerning the passage of the accused in a high school in the region and specified that his behavior had led his hierarchy to end his contract from 2021. She also indicated that the Region was fully at the disposal of justice. It is in this context that Aurélien Pradié chose to transform this drama into a subject of political inquiry. These statements lead us to react, not to comment on an ongoing investigation, but because they participate in the exploitation of a matter whose seriousness should on the contrary require restraint and responsibility. The search for truth belongs to investigators, justice and the competent public authorities. It is up to them to establish the facts, identify possible responsibilities and draw all necessary consequences. Faced with such a tragedy, the first demand should be humanity and not political tactics. Think about the victim, their family, their loved ones and the legitimate emotion that our fellow citizens are experiencing. Using such a drama to fuel a political controversy and create a buzz is simply unworthy. When it comes to the protection of minors, there should be neither majority nor opposition, nor communication strategy. There is only one requirement: that of daily action and vigilance. This is the work carried out, often far from the media and the Com’, by local elected officials, teachers, educators, associations, public officials and all those who work every day to protect the most vulnerable, particularly children.”
