Saturday June 13, the Parc de la Victoire in Millau will once again be ablaze for the traditional Saint-Jean festival.
“Let’s celebrate summer with the fire of St. John!” Organized by the associations Ostal de la Lenga and Calandreta de Milhau, this free event celebrates Occitan culture for 11 years, with a rich and festive program, from 3 pm to 1 am.
From 3 p.m., families will be able to benefit from free workshops. At the same time, Radio Larzac will host a set around Calandreta culture and pedagogy which will be followed by the children’s choir.
Music, shows… and a magical fire at 6 p.m. there will be a show by the company La Rampe Tio, a show in Occitan and French for young and old. It will be followed at 7 p.m. by a crazy ball with the Aveyron duo Clarinzo.
The highlight of the evening will begin at 9 p.m. with the fire ceremony, orchestrated by the La Manivelle company and the children of La Calandreta, who will guide the public until the Great Midsummer Fire ignites. A moment always eagerly awaited, magical and unifying.
At 10 p.m., the female vocal trio La Soubirane will offer us a daring dance that shakes up traditional codes, followed by DJ Etienne at 11:30 p.m.
Supported by two associations invested in the transmission of Occitan language and culture, this 11th edition promises to be memorable.
Free entry, catering and refreshment bar on site, and a warm atmosphere guaranteed to welcome summer with music and Occitan!
