Summer activities in Bagnères-de-Bigorre promise to be plentiful. From tango to the circus, including the Music Festival and the Big Bag Festival, the spa town relies on culture to attract residents and tourists.
As the cultural season in the town of Bagnères-de-Bigorre ends (last show this Saturday, May 30!), the summer entertainment season begins. Starting this weekend, go to various places in the spa town (casino, Salies museum, Le Cavin, market hall) for the Estivals de tango. Before the rest of a program as rich as it is varied.
Music, dance, theater, circus, etc.
If, usually, La Déambule opens the Bagnés summer festivities, it is the Estivales du tango which launches first. From May 29 to 31, the Montañas de Tango association welcomes tango lovers with milongas, tango aperitifs and initiations before the despedida final. Ticket office at the casino. On Saturday June 6, place at La Déambule, with its three street shows and its entertainment with beating drums by the Sambastone batucada. Co-organized by the city and the Maynats association, the event is eagerly awaited every year by young and old alike. On the program: theater, circus and music as the public wanders between the media library square, Place d’Uzer, the hospital rehabilitation center and the Géruzet district. Because the objective of the organizers is to bring culture as close as possible to the public, however far away it may be from the live performance. Because the list of events drawn up by Colombe Sarrazin, the city’s culture manager, is still long. On the menu: Music Festival (“with even more participants than in previous years”), concerts by the Chanteurs Montagnards, Edmond Duplan and the Harmonie Bagnéraise, 30th Carapatte festival, July 14 (with fireworks and ball), Piano Pic, Lyrical Arts, photo exhibition, party Lesponne countryside, Big Bag Festival, Book Fair, Laughter Festival, etc.
Activities that attract tourists
A nice program which will delight the Bagné residents but also the visitors, who are very numerous during the summer period. Some even reserve their stay in the spa town according to the dates of the different cultural events, as is the case for the Street Arts Weekend but also for the Piano Pic festival, the Lyric and Laughter Arts festival or the Pyrenees Book Fair.
“We hope that people want to come back. Bagnères is the city where there are the most cultural activities in the department”, praises Auréilen Cartade, communications assistant for the city, also welcoming the commitment of the associative fabric, part of these activities. Indeed, if the municipality is at the initiative of several cultural events (Déambule, Street Arts Weekend, July 14, summer concerts, etc.), the associations organize a good number of events. “We naturally include them in the summer programming because it fully contributes to the city’s entertainment,” underlines Tony Puaud, deputy for culture.
Please note that the full program of summer activities, complete with games for children, will appear on the table mats of the city’s restaurants throughout the summer. “It’s the city that will supply them to the restaurants and we restock them as soon as they run out,” specifies Aurélien Cartade.
