There are stories that we think we know by heart. First names that cross the centuries like a promise of absolutes. Romeo and Juliet are among them. And yet, they could well surprise you.
Invited by the ACAC, Cultural Association of Saint-Florent, the Imaginary Travel Agency offers withThe love of Romeo and JulietA unique, lively, daring theatrical journey. Here, no dusty museum or tragedy set in stone. The text breathes, circulates, slips between bodies and silences.
A time for discussion with the artists will extend the performance
On stage, Valérie Bournet and Pépita Car carry the words with energy and mischief. Philippe Car’s staging, inventive and resolutely offbeat, offers the Shakespearean monument an unexpected bath of youth. The chosen tirades resonate differently, highlighted by a baroque universe, colorful characters, and this touch of tender irony which tilts the classic towards the timeless.
In 1 hour 15 minutes, accessible from 8 years old, the show invites you to rediscover as much as to feel. Because behind the mythical love story, there is passion, momentum, fragility, the urgency to live, so many emotions which find a particular echo in the proximity of a room on a human scale.
And when the curtain falls, the evening will not end. The ACAC extends the experience with a time for discussion with the artists. A special moment to question creation, share impressions, go behind the scenes of the imagination. The discussion will continue around meal trays (by reservation), in this friendly atmosphere which is the signature of local cultural events.
At a time when we consume everything very quickly, this proposal seems like an aside. An invitation to sit, to listen, to vibrate together. Romeo and Juliet will not only be a story told, they will be an encounter.
