Michael Banks, the director of the American border police, has just announced his resignation on Thursday. He is not the first to leave his position among those responsible for enforcing Donald Trump’s immigration policy.

The director of the American border police (CBP), Michael Banks, resigned on Thursday, May 14. This is another departure among the officials responsible for implementing the anti-immigration policy supported by Donald Trump.

“We thank the director of the border police, Michael Banks, for his decades of service to this country,” wrote one of his senior officials, Rodney Scott, in a statement.

“Under his leadership, the border has transitioned from chaos to the most secure ever,” he added, referring to the border between the United States and Mexico.

Other departures and demotions

Under the leadership of Michael Banks, the border police has been involved in extensive anti-immigration operations in many cities across the country since the return of Donald Trump to the White House in early 2025.
