Donald Trump rejects Iran’s response to US proposals
- Donald Trump rejected Iran’s response to American proposals to end the war on Sunday, May 5.
- The discussions have not reached a resolution on Iran’s enriched uranium.
- With Israeli support, Washington does not rule out directly targeting the uranium on Iranian soil.
“I don’t like it – THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!
.” Donald Trump dismissed Tehran’s response to his proposals to end the war, raising concerns of conflict escalation. At the core of the negotiations: the nuclear issue.
This file, a true Achilles’ heel in the relations between the two countries for decades, has now overshadowed other points of tension. Among them: Lebanon and the Strait of Hormuz. According to the Wall Street Journal
, Iran proposes a gradual reopening along with a simultaneous lifting of the U.S. Navy’s port blockade. Regarding nuclear matters, Tehran would prefer to “dilute”
some of its enriched uranium and send the remainder to a “third country”
. In a new development, authorities were previously planning to address the nuclear issue later. Despite this progress, Washington remains unsatisfied.
“On finira par le récupérer”
On will eventually recover it.
Donald Trump
“Iran has been leading the United States and the rest of the world on for 47 years
,” asserted the American president, adding that the Iranians “laugh at our country, which has now regained its greatness!
” Indeed, Washington and many countries suspect Tehran of seeking nuclear weapons through uranium enrichment, which it denies, defending its right to civilian nuclear power.
According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors, Iran had 441 kilograms of 60% enriched uranium in June 2025, close to the 90% threshold needed to make a nuclear bomb. The regime also had 180 kilograms enriched at 20% and over 6 tons at 5%. After last year’s strikes and recent weeks’ actions, the fate of this stock remains a mystery. Is it buried as Tehran claims? Has some been relocated or destroyed? The Israeli government has an idea about that.
