Involved in a fight on Friday night in Clermont, Régis Montagne, a prop for the French national team, and Lucas Tauzin, two players from ASM, are the subject of a preliminary investigation.
The international prop from Clermont (Top 14), Régis Montagne (7 caps), and his club teammate Lucas Tauzin, who plays at center or on the wing, are the focus of a preliminary investigation following a brawl outside a night establishment, the prosecutor said on Sunday.
Unconscious victim found
On Friday just before midnight, the two ASM players, Régis Montagne and Lucas Tauzin, were arrested by the police following a brawl in public, with an unconscious man on the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital without their life being in danger. Montagne and Tauzin claimed they were targeted outside a night establishment by several individuals, leading to a physical altercation, according to the same source.
Placed in police custody, they have since been released without charges, but “the preliminary investigation continues,” the prosecutor told AFP. A third man, who is not a player, was arrested at his home and also placed in police custody on Saturday morning. He was also released, the prosecutor added. When questioned, the club simply confirmed the identities of the players, without further comments.
