Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu declared that he was considering a “referral” to French justice for the treatment he deemed “odious” inflicted by the Israeli government on activists of the “Gaza flotilla”.
The lawyers of the French members of the“flotilla for Gaza”victims of ill-treatment during their provisional detention in Israel, denounced Friday the “Simulacrum of conviction” of these acts by France and announced their refusal to meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss the issue.

“We know that we have nothing to expect from this simulacrum of condemnation from the French government which cannot today pose itself seriously as a defender of the rights of the sailors of the Flotilla.”reacted the lawyers of the French activists in a press release. “The announcement effects (…) will not make us forget that the French government has supported the State of Israel since the start of the genocide”they emphasize.
Around fifty ships left Turkey on May 14
The head of French diplomacy Jean-Noël Barrot announced on Saturday that France had banned access to its territory to the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, after the broadcast of a video of activists of the “flotilla for Gaza” kneeling with their hands tied, following their interception at sea and their placement in detention in southern Israel.
The lawyers also announce their intention to “file a complaint for the violence suffered by the members of the Flotilla in the coming days for the humiliation, violence, rape and acts of torture denounced”. Around fifty ships left Turkey on May 14 with the aim of a new attempt to break the blockade imposed by Israel on the Gaza Strip, ravaged by two years of war. The Israeli authorities announced the arrest of 430 activists – including 37 French – on board the boats who were all expelled on Thursday.
