“Melodrama”, by Theodora and Disiz, has 271 million streams worldwide, and is a hit as far as Denmark.

International sales of French musical productions were driven in 2025 by new releases, especially rap and electro, but also timeless hits like those of Daft Punk, the National Music Center indicated on Thursday. These export performances are expressed in the form of diamond, platinum and gold certifications, which represent different levels of physical and digital sales.

“In total, 758 singles and 57 albums from 440 artists obtained certification.”announced the CNM, specifying that “Certified titles generated 50 billion stream equivalents, including more than 5 billion for new releases.”

These results are established on the basis of information provided by the labels. They are not required to provide their data, but are increasingly doing so, according to the CNM. These data reflect the dynamism of the international influence of the productions of French artists or foreign artists for which a French entity has worked.

In 2025, 136 new releases (singles or albums) were certified for export, or 17% of the total: the most listened to songs are next to rap (Gazo, Tiakola), electro, then afro and pop (Zaho de Sagazan).

Huge success in France, “Melodrama”, by Theodora and Disiz, has accumulated 271 million streams worldwide, and is a hit as far as Denmark, noted the CNM. Among the most listened to songs are also “Overdrive” by the Parisian duo Ofenbach, “Ninao” by Gims and “Money Pull Up” with Martinican stars Maureen and Blaiz Fayah.

Beyond these recent titles, hits more than three years old (“back catalogue”), particularly from the 2000s and 2010s, are particularly popular outside France, underlined the CNM. The list includes Daft Punk – iconic electro duo now dissolved – with “Around the world”, but also Aya Nakamura, Zaz and Carla Bruni among female artists. Released in 1946, “La Mer” by Charles Trenet is the oldest title certified in 2025.

This trend “reflects the public’s constant enthusiasm for timeless titles and artists, in a context where the industry is banking more on the resurgence of old catalogsâ€noted the National Music Center.
