SHANGHAI, May 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The 28th edition of Bakery China 2026 will open its doors from May 20 to 23 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai.
Jointly organized by the China Bakery and Confectionery Industry Association and Bakery China Exhibitions Co., Ltd., this year’s exhibition with the theme “Innovate Beyond – Premiere Fusion – Link Future” will span over 330,000 meters squares and will utilize 13 exhibition halls, making it one of the largest and most influential bakery trade shows in the world in terms of scale.
Fostering innovation: Bakery China, global bakery hub
As a hub for launching new products and innovations in the global baking industry, Bakery China will fully interpret the core of innovation as tens of thousands of new products, technologies, business models and industrial formats debut.
A series of events, including the Bakery China Innovation Award, the Bakery China Innovation talk and the new week-long initiative dedicated to new product launches, will collectively showcase the industry’s innovation practices, focusing on current trends such as healthy baking, low GI, food-drug homology, application of regional ingredients, applications of AI and smart manufacturing.
In particular, the Chocolate China 2026 exhibition will be held for the first time at the same time as the Bakery China 2026 exhibition. The event will attract more than 200 well-known domestic and international companies in the chocolate industry, covering an area of 30,000 square meters. Associated activities include the China Chocolate Industry Forum 2026, which showcases the entire value chain, from cocoa to finished products, with leading brands from across the chocolate industry.
Connecting the future: continued internationalization and rise of niche sectors
Bakery China 2026 brings together more than 2,200 bakery supply chain companies from more than 70 countries and nearly 400,000 visitors from 130 countries, with international brands accounting for more than 20% of participants. Overseas pre-registrations are up 30% from the previous year, with more than 10,000 buyers covering Belt and Road countries and key regions including Southeast Asia, Asia-Pacific, Central Asia, Europe and the United States.
Focusing on five key scenarios — chain stores, brand owners, supermarket bakeries, industrial bakery and international bakery expansion — Bakery China 2026 organizes more than 100 integrated events covering the entire chain industrial, with professional competitions, live masterclasses, guided tours and a coffee and bread festival. Highlights include the inaugural “Namchow Cup” supermarket baking competition, forums on globalization, industrial baking, smart manufacturing, low-glycemic or healthy baking and regional ingredients, as well as a national coffee skills competition. These initiatives aim to boost emerging segments and enable Chinese bakery brands to engage globally.
“After almost three decades of development, Bakery China has become a global benchmark for the baking industry. “This year’s exhibition promotes the development of a high-quality industry and opens a new chapter with bakery professionals around the world,” said Zhang Jiukui, president of the China Bakery and Confectionery Industry Association.
From August 27 to 29, Bakery China will launch its first ASEAN International Bakery Exhibition (Bakery ASEAN) in Jakarta, extending the “synergy of debut” to Southeast Asia.
