Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng said that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam has made strengthening foreign relations and international integration an essential and permanent task. This represents a major strategic shift in the Party’s thinking, demonstrating the high regard it places on the fundamental role and importance of foreign affairs and diplomacy.
Furthermore, following the reorganization of its structure, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ensures the unified management of foreign affairs within the political system. He advises the Party and the State on their strategic direction and organizes the implementation of the Party’s foreign policy, state diplomacy and citizen diplomacy.
Recently, the global situation has evolved rapidly, becoming complex and unpredictable, and these changes, whether minor or major, have a direct impact on Vietnam. Furthermore, the transmission mechanisms of these impacts are extremely multifaceted and intersectoral, which raises numerous challenges and requires proactive measures, strategic forecasts, policy responses and contingency plans.
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in carrying out its missions. However, he insisted on the need to clearly identify the limits, difficulties, challenges and their causes in order to obtain better results in the future.
The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish a healthy and strong Party organization. Particular attention should be paid to strengthening the Party and protecting internal political security, especially in strategic areas, and taking timely measures as soon as problems arise and from a distance.
Thoroughly research, quickly concretize and institutionalize the foreign policy directions of the Party and the State, and comprehensively promulgate relevant legal documents.
In particular, the ministry must urgently review and propose amendments and additions to the decree relating to the organizational structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
