French people in London: our 2026 list of neighborhoods where life is good in the British capital

London still makes the French dream, despite Brexit. 180,000 of our compatriots live in the English capital and few plan to leave. Often attracted by work opportunities, they love this welcoming, green and less dense city than Paris. An undeniable attractiveness which nevertheless does not erase the difficulty of settling there. The choice of neighborhoods is dizzying. The city is sprawling. Greater London is almost 1600 km²twice the size of Paris plus its small crown. Real estate prices are sometimes excessive. Finding a good place to live is therefore not an easy task.

To help (future) expatriates make their choice, we examined the 191 wards – the finest division of London – through more than twenty criteria representative of the quality of life: cost of real estate, security, green spaces, cultural and leisure offer, pollution levels, presence of bilingual schools, distance from Saint Pancras and the City… Enough to find the neighborhoods to favor, and those to avoid.
