This fall, Céline Galipeau will host a brand new international news show which will be broadcast live on ICI RDI on Friday at 8 p.m., and as an encore on Sunday at 5 p.m. on ICI TÉLÉ and ICI TOU.TV.

With 14 years in the field as a correspondent and 18 years at the helm of the Téléjournal late evening during the week, Céline Galipeau will delve deeper into the issues that are shaking up our world and will highlight the on-the-ground coverage of Radio-Canada’s correspondents and special correspondents.

This new challenge fulfills a desire that I had for a long time, that of managing an international news magazine and being able to take the time to explain complex issuesconfides Céline Galipeau.

With this new show, I want to offer the public a window on the world where we look at what is happening elsewhere and which resonates here.

Céline Galipeau began her career at Radio-Canada in 1984 in Toronto. In 1989, she was appointed national correspondent in the Queen City after having hosted the bulletin du midi Montréal for three years.

While in Russia and China, Céline Galipeau worked for both Radio-Canada and the English network CBC.

During the 1990s, she covered several armed conflicts: the Gulf War, the Algerian civil war, the Chechen war and that of Kosovo.

She also visited Afghanistan several times and provided in-depth reporting in India, Haiti and elsewhere.

Céline Galipeau is the anchor of the Téléjournal weekday evening show since 2009, hosting both the newscast and numerous special shows.

Among other things, she traveled to Israel and the West Bank to cover the conflict in Gaza and, last February, to Ukraine where she spoke with President Volodymyr Zelensky on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion.

Many distinctions

Céline Galipeau received, among other things, the Amnesty International prize in 1995 for her reporting on the World Conference on Women in Beijing.

Ten years later, he was awarded the Claire-L’Heureux-Dubé prize for his work on equality between men and women and the Raymond-Charette prize which highlights the exemplary quality of French in electronic journalism.

She was awarded the Order of Quebec in 2009 and, in 2013, was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and has been heralded as one of Canada’s most notable journalists.

She received the medal of honor from the National Assembly of Quebec in 2018, the Guy-Mauffette prize in 2021 and the prestigious René-Lévesque prize in 2025, two high distinctions rewarding her career and her contribution to the field of journalism.

Céline Galipeau received honorary doctorates from the University of Ottawa and Bishop University in 2012 and McGill University in 2016 for her career as a journalist.

Céline Galipeau has undeniable expertise to carry out this project. A meeting which is part of our desire to further promote international coverage and to support the public in their understanding of the world.

Céline Galipeau will devote herself to this new show in the fall and will thus pass the torch of hosting the Téléjournal late evening on weekdays, broadcast at 9 p.m. on ICI RDI and at 10 p.m. on ICI TÉLÉ.
