ACI Council has just released its ranking of the largest airports in the world. Roissy has lost a spot in the ranking for international traffic. The aviation sector is not supported in France, as it is much more heavily taxed than in other countries. The entire aviation sector warned that the increase in TSBA would divert traffic out of France. Additionally, while France traditionally maintained a diplomatic balance between major powers with balanced positions in recent years, it has distanced itself from many countries with which we had very good relations. The country’s diplomatic influence has struggled to grow thanks to General de Gaulle’s policy being erased in a few years.

In 2025, Roissy has dropped a spot in the global ranking of the largest airports for international traffic. The Parisian airport now ranks 7th globally, down from 6th place in 2024. Istanbul Airport has taken its place by moving up a spot from the previous year. Turkish Airlines and its hub continue to grow rapidly with a 5.8% increase in traffic, the strongest in the top 10 after Hong Kong. The conflict in Iran could benefit Istanbul’s hub in 2026, as it is quite distant from the fighting.
