Thai Airways International reduces its flight schedule by 10% in May

Like most airlines in Thailand (from Bangkok Airways to low-cost carriers like Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air, and Thai Vietjet), the national carrier Thai Airways International is impacted by the US/Iran war and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The drastic drop in oil deliveries is forcing the Thai airline to cut its capacities. This will result in a nearly 10% reduction in seat availability in May. Last Friday, the carrier indicated that it has prepared alternatives to help passengers manage these changes.

Frequency reductions, including cancellations, affect all continents served by the Thai airline.

On domestic routes, the carrier will reduce flights from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi to Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, and Udon Thani. For Khon Kaen and Udon Thani, the carrier is removing one daily flight; on Ubon Ratchathani, Thai Airways is cutting two flights per week.

In Asia, the affected routes include: – Delhi: 22 weekly flights reduced to 21 (May 1-29, 2026) – Hong Kong: 4 daily flights reduced to 3 (May 6-31, 2026) – Hyderabad: daily flights reduced from 7 to 5 (May 4-27, 2026) – Kaohsiung: suspended (previously 1 flight per day) (May 8-31, 2026) – Mumbai (Bombay): 2 daily flights reduced to 1 (May 1-31, 2026) – Beijing (Capital): 2 daily flights reduced to 1 (May 7-31, 2026, except May 29) – Phnom Penh: 2 daily flights reduced to 11 weekly (May 2-30, 2026) – Seoul (Incheon): 3 daily flights reduced to 1 (May 8-31, 2026) – Shanghai (Pudong): 2 daily flights reduced to 1 (May 11-31, 2026, except May 30) – Singapore: 5 daily flights reduced to 4 (May 2-31, 2026) – Taipei: 3 daily flights reduced to 2 (May 6-31, 2026) – Tokyo (Narita): 3 daily flights reduced to 2 (May 11-31, 2026, except May 29)

In Europe, Thai Airways International is making adjustments to the following routes. It is important to note that Brussels and Paris routes are not affected by the frequency reduction.

– Copenhagen: daily flights reduced from 7 to 5 (May 18-27, 2026) – Frankfurt: 2 daily flights reduced to 12 weekly (May 18-27, 2026) – Istanbul: daily flights reduced from 7 to 5 (May 11-27, 2026) – Munich: daily flights reduced from 7 to 5 (May 19-28, 2026) – Oslo: daily flights reduced from 7 to 5 (May 18-27, 2026) – Stockholm: daily flights reduced from 7 to 5 (May 18-27, 2026)

This reduction in flights is a response to the current geopolitical situation affecting the airline industry.
