The day after the signing of an agreement between the United States and Iran to end the war in the Middle East, Emmanuel Macron assured that prices at the pump “will gradually fall”. The head of state indicated that the wake of this historic signing “immediately” caused “prices at the pump to drop”.
The President of the Republic spoke of the fate of the Strait of Hormuz: “We will help technically reopen” the Strait of Hormuz. “We are right to congratulate ourselves, it is the interest of the region, it is the interest of France,” he insisted. In order to no longer be dependent on this strategic passage for the marketing of world oil. “This is why the countries participating in the G7 have “decided to finance alternative maritime routes together,” he added.

However, Emmanuel Macron indicated that he did not “believe” that the war “is completely over”, despite an agreement signed the day before by Donald Trump at Versailles. “It’s always better to have an agreement than war, especially when there may be risks of escalation,” he added. “We are entering a new phase which is that of cooperation, of dialogue, which is better than war.”

“It is still too early” to assess the cost of the war on the French economy. But according to the head of state: “France is resisting much better than our neighbors.”
