Ukraine: the war enters its 5th year

Vladimir Putin responded to Volodymyr Zelensky’s letter. In the document sent on June 4, the Ukrainian president expressed the wish for a face-to-face meeting with his Russian counterpart. To which the head of the Kremlin responded positively, through his spokesperson, declaring that Volodymyr Zelensky “can go to Moscow“.

Vladimir Putin also says he is open to negotiations, while, at the same time, Russian strikes on the night of June 4 to 5 caused the death of at least three people in Ukraine. “If we manage to establish peace there, the struggle for power in this country, the economic situation in this context, all this will change radically“, he declared, in a sequence to be found in the video at the top of this article.

It seems very unlikely, if not impossible, that Volodymyr Zelensky will go to Moscow to meet Vladimir Putin. If such a meeting took place, it would obviously be in a neutral country“, analyzes Grégory Philipps, the editor-in-chief of the international service on LCI.

In the meantime, the Europeans are trying to move things forward on the diplomatic level with a meeting planned for the weekend of June 6 and 7 in London around British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, according to information from TF1-LCI. French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Volodymyr Zelensky are expected in the UK capital.
