War in Ukraine: one dead and more than twenty injured in Russian night strikes

In the Kherson region (east), a 62-year-old man was killed in a Russian drone strike on a village and three people were injured in an artillery strike that hit an apartment building.

Russian night strikes left one dead and 26 injured in Ukraine according to local authorities Monday 1is June, in a context of intensification of long-range attacks and lack of progress in the negotiation process to end the conflict. In the Kherson region (east), a 62-year-old man was killed in a Russian drone strike on a village and three people were injured in an artillery strike that hit an apartment building, according to local authorities. Eight people were injured, including three children, in the Cherniguiv region (north) where 10,000 people were also deprived of electricity after a strike on energy infrastructure, according to rescue services and the supplier regional electricity.

Local authorities also reported seven injured in the port city of Odessa (south), four in the Dnipropetrovsk region (east), four in Kharkiv (northeast), and one in Zaporizhia (south). Russia targeted the neighboring country with 265 drones overnight from Sunday to Monday, of which 228 were intercepted, the Ukrainian Air Force said.

Moscow, which bombs Ukraine almost every night, has intensified its attacks during the day in recent months, leading to a response from kyiv which has for its part intensified its long-distance strikes against Russia, mainly targeting energy infrastructure. Negotiations to end the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has left hundreds of thousands dead and millions of refugees in more than four years of war, have stalled.
