The Revolutionary Guards, Iran’s ideological army, promised this Wednesday, May 20, to extend the war “beyond the region” of the Middle East, if the United States and Israel attacked the country again.
This declaration comes as a ceasefire has been in force since April 8 between Tehran and Washington, after more than a month of war, triggered by an Israeli-American attack against Iran on February 28.
“If the aggression against Iran is repeated, the promised regional war will this time extend well beyond the region, and our devastating blows will crush you,” the Guardians said in a statement published on their Sepah News site.
“We have not deployed the full power of the Islamic Revolutionâ€
“The American-Zionist enemy (…) must know that, despite the offensive waged against us by all the capabilities of two armies, the most costly in the world, we have not deployed all the power of the Islamic Revolution,” they added.
On Tuesday, American President Donald Trump once again threatened to strike Iran if an agreement to permanently end the war was not found with this country, while reiterating that he hoped not to have to wage war.
He said he would give Tehran “two or three days, maybe Friday, Saturday, Sunday, something like that, maybe early next week.”
The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, warned for his part that a “return to war would hold many more surprises” from his country.
The strikes launched on February 28 cost the lives of several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, triggering retaliatory attacks from Tehran across the region.
