On May 7, 2026, the new accommodation building for the Volunteer Enlisted Army (EVAT), which accommodates the 1is Hunter Regiment (1is RCh), was inaugurated. Led by the Defense Infrastructure Service (SID) of the Ministry of the Armed Forces and Veterans, the construction of this living space constitutes real progress for these enlisted personnel.
After pyrotechnic decontamination actions, 12 months of work and an investment of 8.9 million euros, this building can now accommodate in optimal conditions 98 soldiers of the 1is RCh.
Located in the Maginot district of Thierville-sur-Meuse (Meuse), this space is distinguished by its functional and comfortable design. Made up of double and collective rooms accommodating a maximum of four people, this building also offers offices on the ground floor for administrative needs and staff supervision.
On the environmental side, great attention was paid to the regulation of temperatures by a Canadian well system: buried tubes make it possible to store temperate air to heat or cool the ambient air of the building. To optimize energy conditions, solar panels were also installed.
Led by the SID Nord-Est as part of the UNIK framework agreement, this ambitious project is a continuation of the ministry’s Accommodation plan aimed at offering the military modern infrastructure adapted to their operational constraints.
Improving reception and accommodation conditions for non-commissioned personnel contributes to the loyalty policy of the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
What is the UNIK framework agreement?
UNIK is a framework agreement signed between the Ministry of the Armed Forces and the French manufacturer Bouygues Bâtiment for the design, construction, development, upkeep and maintenance of three geographical lots of high energy performance accommodation buildings. A concentration of operations is planned in Brittany, in the Grand-Est and near the Mediterranean.
