The Henri-Pottevin salon of the Castelsarrasin town hall served as the setting, Thursday May 7 from 9 a.m., for a ceremony imbued with solemnity. Under the aegis of Renaud Lassince, sub-prefect of the district, several young recruits have officially signed their engagement contract to join the operational reserve of the 31st engineering regiment (31st RG).
For the occasion, Serge Durrens and Philippe Bon, city deputy, represented Mayor Jean-Philippe Bésiers. Colonel Basile Caire, commander of the regiment, was also present.
This event is not only an administrative step, it symbolizes the vitality of the link between the Castelsarrasin city and its anchor regiment. By choosing the town hall for this signature, the military and civil authorities wanted to underline the territorial roots of these volunteers.
In its speech, the municipality praised the courage and sense of duty of these young people. “I welcome these new soldiers by saluting their deep sense of duty, as well as their civic commitment. They strongly embody the values of solidarity and dedication,” declared Serge Durrens. By joining the reserve, they undertake to actively contribute to protection and security missions, reinforcing active forces during internal deployments or major crises. With this signature, Castelsarrasin reaffirms its position as a sponsor city attentive to its youth and its defense.
