Analyses and speculations are in full swing regarding this rapid knockout, which has not failed to ignite boxing fans this weekend.
Viktor Jurk may have had a train to catch. Unless it was Edwin Castillo, but in his state, he still had to be able to find his way back to the train station in Mannheim afterwards… Friday night, in this city near the French border (about a 1.5-hour drive north of Strasbourg), the former put his Colombian opponent down with his first blow, in between three and four seconds (see video below)! Normally, this should allow him to apply for the Guinness World Records, which still lists American Mike Collins as the author of the fastest knockout in history in four seconds, in 1947 in Minneapolis against his compatriot Pat Brownson.
Did Jurk take advantage of Castillo’s greeting?
The 2.02 m tall German was ten kilos heavier than his opponent, 122 against 112, and apparently that was enough to make the difference when his opponent collapsed immediately, struck in the carotid by a left straight. Jurk, a 26-year-old national heavyweight hopeful in his category, is no stranger to this since twelve of his fourteen victories have been obtained by knockout and ten in the first round. But this time, he has reached a new level that will be difficult to surpass… In 2024, there was indeed a 2″9 for Justin Watson against Cole Ferrell, but that was for the BKFC, so bare-knuckle fights.
The collapse of Edwin Castillo is so brutal that one may wonder if there is an element of simulation, at least this theory has stirred fans on various social networks. With the feeling, also, that Jurk took advantage of a greeting from his opponent who was about to touch gloves as usual. Who would not have actually started his fight, which did not stop the local from going all in. Sorry, but there is no better expression to describe this rather fierce scene.
