“We didn’t make the right choices in very favorable situations for us in the first half-hour of the game and they scored on their first opportunity. They then scored a goal with a fabulous gesture from a player from 50 meters out, and the last goal, we scored ourselves,” reiterates the coach Cédric Pardeilhan, despite himself.
“We gave it our all”
“This year, nothing was spared for us. But we gave it our all and I can only congratulate my players for their commitment throughout this season,” he adds with greater enthusiasm. Regardless of the outcome of this final matchday, positives have been drawn. “Starting with the integration of players into the N3 group who had never experienced this level,” he notes.
“The departure of five players during the winter break weighed us down a bit, as there was consequently less competition and possibly a bit less intensity in training sessions, but I acknowledge that everyone did their job this year,” adds the technician.
Despite a low recruitment level at the start of the season, the six-point penalty imposed by the Federation in November, and the wave of departures in winter, the players from Anglet have managed to stay in the mix until April. “We endured all these setbacks without ever giving up, and even if we are not in the running on the scoreboard, it will remain a great season of learning for everyone,” he concludes, hoping for a home victory to reward the players’ commitment and the fans at Stade Saint-Jean.
